I come from a basketball family. Although we all are often going different ways in our daily life, both parents coach AAU and Travel teams and my sister and I play on multiple teams. I love that basketball brings my family together! Some of my best memories are with playing with my family in the backyard and spending time with my teammates at basketball tournaments.
My mom was even inducted to the Hall of Fame in Manhattan college, tried out for the Mystics in their second season.
Having both my basketball and soccer teams that finish Second in the Nation last year was the highlight of middle school sports for me. My Vogues 2022 basketball team had a record of 84 and 5 for the season (playing a year or more above age every tournament). Our team had that synergy and teamwork you don’t often see and made us incredibly tough. However, I feel I grew most was when we lost the AAU D1 Championship game. The experience helped me to develop as player and leader on my team, realizing that any team and player and team can be beaten and that I must continually work on pushing myself out my comfort zone every practice each and every game to make myself a better player and leader for my team.
My favorite middle school experience was having our AAU team playing the boys league every winter and winning the league several times. Most of the time, they thought we were in the wrong gym! There was no better feeling than beating the boys. I was also fortunate enough to be selected for the county travel D1 boys league this year. This experience has helped me to challenge myself, grow my skills and work on becoming a solid point guard capable of playing at the college level.
I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the skills to compete for a college team, but the character, work ethic, leadership skills and study habits to make an immediate impact on your program. As a two-sport athlete and National Junior Honor Society student, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team.
