My name is Annelise Castillo and I'm a 5'7 135lbs guard at Herndon High School. My passion for the game started on my elementary school blacktop where I would play disorganized games with my classmates. I enjoyed it so much that I played house league, which then led to travel, and then eventually AAU and high school basketball. I genuinely struggled with enjoying the game of basketball throughout middle school and solely played because it was something to do. I was then refreshed and found passion and drive for the sport in high school. My JV coach, Coach Rodney Bedford along with my teammates showed me how to enjoy the intensity of the sport. I then had a desire to get better and when quarantine hit I was able to. I’d be outside for hours in the heat just having fun. I made sure not to drive myself into the ground again and mixed up my training methods. I would play volleyball, football, and weight train. This past season I actually started on the High school team as a middle blocker and we ended up placing second in the state! Overall, basketball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and has taught me many things.
