Personal Statement

My name is Dakota Wyss.  I am 16 and fun.  I love to play basketball, I am very coachable because I listen.  I believe in faith, family and basketball.  When not playing basketball I love watching my little cousins and my baby sister Dot.  I also love building lego's to relax.  I play hard every game and practice just as hard.  I would be a good player for any team as I never quit.  I am a very good defender and one coach told me he would play me in college just for my defense.  I am good with my left hand on the dribble and shot but I am right handed for my strong hand.

  • Greetings, My name is Brett McGinnis and I have coached Men’s and Woman’s College basketball as well as high school and elite travel basketball. I feel I have a good understanding of what to look for in a student athlete. Dakota Wyss has been a fixture in my practices from the time she could dribble a ball. She is an extremely coachable young lady. She has a desire to learn and is not afraid to ask why! From watching her play you have made the choice to read this letter so I wanted to give you a little deeper insight on Dakota that you may not see from film or watching a few minutes of her playing live. Besides the coachablilty aspect I mentioned earlier I appreciate what a great person she is on and off the court. College coaches can find a lot of physical talent. Dakota brings that plus the intangibles that make coaching a lot more fun! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Brett McGinnis 509-860-5713

  • Re: Dakota Wyss. Dakota , first and foremost is a natural, effortless shooter of the basketball. Moves well without the ball and has knowledge of what cuts need to be made based on how the defense is playing her, without thought . Dribbles well with both hands and can finish at the rim with either hand. She can play the 2, 3 or the 4/5 naturally! works very hard in the post on defense . The last 2 seasons she has taken on more responsibility helping push the ball up the court as the 1 and continues to improve there. Natural re-bounder and seems to be around the ball . She's long, lengthy, with a fairly long stride so she gets up and down the floor with very little effort. Her Defense has been her biggest improvement over the last 2 years. That stride, and arm/leg length with her athleticism and and her effort, WITH active hands make her a handful defensively. Best of all, she is a willing learner with a great attitude and a strong desire to improve every time she hits the floor! Super competitive! doesn't like to lose at anything yet doesn't pout for hours. Great Kid, great attitude! very level headed ! Does not rattle very easily. She has been in the gym with the Gebbers Family since birth ! I honestly consider her a "Coaches Kid"! Best Regards, Greg Kenyon

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
