Mary Elmquist '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Mary Elmquist. I am entering my senior year of high school, and interested in pursuing playing collegiate golf.

My golf game has steadily improved in the past year.  I started the 2012 high school season playing number 5 and advanced to the number 2 position by the close of the season.  Our team was conference and section champions, advancing to the Minnesota Girls Golf 3AAA State Tournament.

In high school, I have been enrolled in AVID and AP classes which are preparing me for my intended college major of Elementary education.  Additionally, I am involved in multiple extracurricular activities including, LINK, Peer Ministry, National Honor Society, Future Educators Club, and Spanish club.  I am in swimming and lettered in both golf and Nordic skiing. My peers look up to me as a leader.  I am captain of both skiing and golf.  I was also chosen to give a testimony speech last year at a gathering for 1,000 district school teachers. This fall, I was appointed to attend sports leadership conference for an elite group of 15 athletes.

Entering my senior year, I have several goals for my golf game.  First, through weekly golf lessons with my swing coach, I will continue to improve my golf techniques.  Second, I will continue diligent practice with hopes of reaching the state tournament and placing within the top 20 golfers.

Following graduation, I look forward to attending a college with a strong education program.  My ultimate dream besides being an Elementary teacher would be to play collegiate golf.
