My first exposure to golf was through my dad. He is an avid golfer, golf coach, and teacher. The result of his enthusiasm for golf rubbed off on me and made me passionate for the sport. When I was young, he made the game fun and easy with golf cart rides and competitions to hit the ball over water and of course chips and pop. My introduction to golf made me excited to play “real” golf. When I was 12 years old I started playing golf competitively, at first there were many struggles but with hard work and dedication I’ve seen my scores and understanding of the game improve.
My golf game has come a long way since I first started. I have been a two year varsity golfer and have played anywhere from number 2 to number 6 on my high school team. In my two years on varsity our team has played in the state tournament (first return trip since 2012). Our team placed third my freshman year and fifth at state my sophomore year. In Minnesota we play 6 players, with 4 scores counting and my scores are counted every meet. My lowest round in tournament play is a 77 and my average is 80. This past summer I have been making swing changes to take my game to another level and I feel my best golf is yet to come.
In addition to being a hard worker at golf, I work just as hard at my academics. My GPA is 4.0+ and I have taken many challenges courses including honors classes (8 courses), advanced placement classes (6 classes) and am currently taking freshman composition through a local college. I plan to study engineering as an undergraduate student, and I am interested in aerospace/aeronautical, chemical and mechanical engineering. I hope to attend a school where I have the opportunity to continue to play golf and further my studies. I will give my college and my golf team my very best as I look forward to improving every day both on the golf course and in the classroom.
