Olivia Yochim '23 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Olivia Yochim and I am currently a junior at Bozeman High School in Montana. I was first introduced to golf at a young age by my father, who absolutely loves the sport. However, I had never actually gotten into golf nor played a full round until the summer of 2019. It was then that I realized what an amazing sport golf is and decided to pick it up seriously. I have grown so much over the years, despite having very limited experience under my belt. I went from shooting mid 100s, to 90s, to low 80s so that by my sophomore year, I was on my highschool varsity team. My parents set a high precedent for me, both having become doctors, and my mom was able to accomplish this despite emigrating to an entirely different country after college.  I am very hard-working, persevere through challenges, and maintain a positive attitude in every aspect of my life. In my sophomore year of high school, I was an all online student, which enabled me to build up a very strong mental fortitude. Online school required a lot of patience, dedication, and hard work. I  was able to persevere through that year with great grades despite being home alone almost all year and needing to navigate my education mostly alone. Through that unique experience, I was able to grow immensely and my eyes were opened to some of the necessary characteristics needed for different aspects of life. I understand that hard work is necessary for improvement, but I also recognize the importance of team building and community. I view golf as a one-of-a-kind sport where one is forced to be accountable for their every action, as it is a more independent sport, but you also have to look out for your other teammates, since every individual decision affects the team as a whole. I would love an opportunity to grow in my golfing abilities and I hope to make a positive difference on my future teammates and school.
