Hey hey!! My name is Stella Mavis, and this is going to be my 6th year playing hockey. One of my first memories of being on the ice is when my dad built a rink in our backyard on his birthday. It sure wasn’t pretty but I always remember having my dad tie my skates in the freezing weather. I’ve been super lucky to have great parents who will drive me anywhere, cheer me on anytime, and support me wherever I go and whatever I choose to do.
I am fifteen (16 in November) and this winter season is going to be my first year in 16u. I am currently playing with the Des Moines Lady Wild 15u team and Carriage Club‘s (Kansas City) 16u team. Monday through Thursday, I wake up at 4:50am before school and practice with PEP (Power Edge Pro). Thursdays I will attend Lady Wild practices and I lift at school. I am planning on playing for Glory World Wide hockey (08’s) and continue to practice with PEP during the summer. I will also be attending multiple camps over the summer, one being Shattuck St Mary’s for the fourth year in a row.
I am number 16 and love to play center (but I can play any forward position). Some of my strengths is my capability to be anywhere on the ice and, my skating and stick handling skills are pretty good, but I need to improve on keeping my head up and scanning the rink when I’m on the ice. I am a very motivated person who will not give up until I accomplish or go beyond my goals.
