Ellie Newpower '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a physical defenseman that has the skills to jump up and join the play at the right time. I am a good skater that sees the ice and thinks the game very well. I have a good first pass to get my team out of the zone quickly. I am a competitive, quiet leader and a team player that will do what it takes to make my team successful. I take pride in blocking shots and my plus/minus. My plus/minus was +31 last season and I blocked 4-5 shots a game. I also focus on the little things like staying inside my opponents, lifting sticks, stops & starts, angling, etc.

My goal is to play D1 hockey and be the best student possible. What makes me different from other players is my attention to detail with my game. As I mention above, I focus on the little things to give me an edge over my opponents. I also study game film after every game to identify my weaknesses and find ways to get better.

Academically, my cumulative GPA is 3.02. I have not decided on a major yet but I am leaning towards business with a marketing emphasis.

Lastly, I train year-round for hockey. I train at OS Hockey in the off-season, which includes playing in a Spring Elite League and a few tournaments in the spring and summer. My summer training includes my high school summer training program, OS Hockey summer program, and Mike Bowman's Summer Girls Hockey Camp. My off ice weight training is with Carson Fossum at Royalty Sports Training in Centerville, MN. I will also compete in the Upper Midwest HS School Elite League in the fall.
