Personal Statement
I love hockey. Don’t get me wrong, I also love my friends and family (Jesse/Heidi/Ally/Sam), puppy dog (Kodie) and 2 cats (Kikki/Viking) deeply. But I really love hockey. I love everything about it and it’s been that way since I was 5. I love my teammates, coaches, trainers. I love the practices, dryland, video review, chalk talks, pre-game, post-game, out-of-town tournaments, in-town tournaments, and of course, I really love game day. I love forechecking, backchecking, forehand wristers, backhand flips, blocking shots, poke checking, power plays, penalty kills, breaking out, cycling and of course deking.
I love all of it.
It all drives me to get better – the good games and even the bad games. Actually, the bad games probably make me better. I hate losing – especially, if I feel like I could have made a better play or made a better finish. It’s that frustration that fuels my determination to improve. And that determination never really ends – there’s always something to learn or something to work on. The game is so fluid (which I also love) and there are so many small decisions to consider and learn from.
Currently, I am the starting center for our Spring Lake Park High School (Mn.) team. Our team is very young and still learning but I think we are getting better every game. I work very hard on both ends of the rink and consider myself a real good 2-way player. To me, d-side work is just as important as scoring. I’m also a good playmaker and especially like to set up my teammates.
Also, please note that I’m a 3-1/2-star recruit with Neutral Zone.net
