Personal Statement
Hi! I'm Lizzie, a 7-year-old lacrosse player from Auckland, New Zealand. I am a right hand dominant goalie. I am in my final year of high school and graduate December 2023. Recently I have competed in New Zealand Nationals for both U18 and Seniors, getting silver and bronze for my regional team, Auckland. I travelled to Perth for the Australian Nationals with my U18 team, which was really cool. This year I am captain for my school team.
I started lacrosse as soon as it was an option at my school and fell in love, I quickly found my way into the goalie circle and haven't looked back. I want to see how far lacrosse can take me. It would be incredible if I found the right school that would be able to educate me in engineering while also allowing me to represent them by continuing to play lacrosse.
Currently, I am aiming to trial for the U20's squad for my country, New Zealand. I am a fast learner and quickly improving my skills as a goalie and would love extra coaching from a national program. I was going to train with the NZ 6s team, however the program was cancelled before trials.
My lacrosse career so far has been filled with one-on-one trainings with goalie coaches who are at a national and international standard and have used all my learnings to make me the player I am. Both on and off the field, I am open-minded, bubbly, and keen for a challenge. I welcome criticism and feedback and adapt it to my playing style. I am a very coachable player and have played any sport that is available to me, but I have an extra passion for lacrosse.
I have a good relationship with my defence and am able to communicate well during games. I play well under pressure and quick to make a save and clear.
