Personal Statement

I hope to succeed in my last year as a high school coxswain and if my abilities allow me, to continue coxswaining throughout college the next four years. As of now I would plan on going into college undecided because I still feel its an important decision and I need to explore all my options. I hope to get an above average score on my SAT in order to help with the college process. My goal is to not get swept away with the excitement of searching for colleges and not let that take away from the year I still have left at high school to better myself academically and as a coxswain. I hope to maintain my varsity level as a coxswain and raise my GPA by .15 through the help of my AP courses. My high school crew team has recently been adjusting to a new head coach. I've taken this adjustment and used it as an opportunity to put myself out there and express my leadership now more than ever. As a coxswain no matter how upset a situation may make you feel its your job to maintain a leveled head and focus because the rowers attitudes towards situations can be swayed by negativity. Coxswains aren't just leaders and people who tell you your split isn't where it should be, we're also support systems that rowers should be able to trust and lean on.
