Hi, my name is Sofia Ramos, and I am a Senior at Mountain House High School (MHHS). My goal is to play soccer at the collegiate level and pursue a degree in architecture.
3 reasons why I love soccer:
1) Teamwork: Working with a team has always been a positive and empowering aspect of soccer for me. I am always open to constructive criticism and have great teamwork skills.
2) Training Teaches Life Skills: Two valuable life skills that I can link directly to my training are concentration and persistence.
3) The Rush: That feeling of being alive and the rush of adrenaline when everything comes together on the field. I love hearing the crowd cheer and to celebrate with teammates in those exciting moments when the hard work pays off.
Other things I enjoy:
I love snowboarding, music, Marvel and Legos. In the summer, if I am not playing soccer, you will find me fishing and rafting in Montana or skim boarding in Mexico.
About Me:
I have been on the MHHS Girls Varsity soccer team since freshman year (COVID 2020), and as a sophomore, my team made it to the playoffs for the second time in our school's soccer history. I made Second Team All-League as a Sophomore, leading the team in assists and second in goals scored. Junior year my teammates voted me in as Team Captain and was honored to lead the Lady Mustangs and receive the team MVP award as well as First Team All-League in the WAC. We finished second in our conference and made it to playoffs again Junior year. I currently hold 4 school records, Most goals per game (4), most career goals (31), most assists per game (3) and most career assists (14).
Along with my athletic achievements, academics are very important to me, and I maintain a 3.95 (4.2 weighted) GPA. I take a handful of classes including Honors English, Honors Math and Honors Physics.
2022-2023 Club Soccer was a huge growth year for me personally. Halfway through last season I was given an opportunity to play for MFC Reign 06 and Surf DPL. I trained hard, kept showing up, and remained a consistent supporting presence and was ultimately offered a permanent spot on the team. The team as a whole had some unavoidable challenges but we remained focused and resilient and ended up winning our NORCAL NPL Spring League at Davis in May 2023 taking First Place! As a team, we decided to play our final season before college for Valley Surf in the DPL League. We finished near top in the DPL for our region and traveled Ohio in June and competed at the National DPL Finals. I really enjoy my new team and Ohio was fun and I was very happy with my performance. I am looking forward to San Diego Surf Cup in July and more opportunities to showcase.
