Hi, I am Ava Naclerio (2025). This season I am the starting goalkeeper for Woodland Regional High Schools JV soccer team and also play in Varsity games as striker and goalkeeper. We have won the NVL Championship title for the past 2 years and are planning on keeping the strike going next season!
Outside of high school, I have played for Ginga FC for the last 6 years. My passion for soccer started when I was 4. I loved defense and goal and naturally moved into a goalkeeper focus at the age of 9. In addition to goal, I do support my team on the field as well - I'm not the best striker but I definitely hold my own on defense! In 2021, I helped lead my team to victory in the final championship game for States, and now proudly wear my championship badge on my jersey sleeve.
Off the pitch, I'm a straight A student and am very involved in my school. Currently, I'm the class of 2025 Historian with past experience as a Treasurer. I am also involved in a number of school clubs including the Culinary Crew, Math Team, DECA, and World Language Honors Society. Being a student-athlete is very important to me. I strive to make a positive impact on my team (I'm also known as the snack girl) and for the school I attend.
Outside of soccer, school, and clubs, I also play tennis. I take weekly lessons to refine my skills and I also play for the Varsity tennis team at Woodland Regional High School. I currently play at the Doubles 2 position with my partner, Abbie, and have ambitions to move up to Doubles 1 next year.
I'm looking forward to playing in college and bringing my passion to a team that is committed to excellence both on and off the field. Academics will absolutely play into my decision in addition to the coaching staff. You should want to meet me not only for my dedication but for my work ethic to continually learn and become the best on the field. I listen to my coaches, but more importantly, I put those words into action. My favorite moment on my high school team so far was when my coach saw me make a high corner save just below the bar and yelled "wow - great save kid". I know I can consistently make the saves people are not expecting to see from me - and it makes me smile every single time.
