Personal Statement

I am looking for a college that will help me grow and reach my full potential, both academically and on the playing field. Over the past few years, I have worked so hard to get to where I am today. Whether that be watching professional games, looking up YouTube videos, or spending hours each day juggling, I am always looking to improve myself. Challenges are a driving force for me, and I don't give up until it's completed. As a kid I would attend UConn or Central soccer games and dreamed of the day when I could play on a college field, and that challenge has been with me since I played travel soccer. Now here I am, at the last step of the challenge, as my passion nor determination has not, and will not, die down.

Academics are just as important to me as athletics, which is why I have always been good at multitasking and managing my time. When it comes to school, I push myself more than I am initially comfortable with in order to grow. Whether in the classroom or on the field, I pay attention to the small details and take any advice others have to offer. One of my current coaches has told me how I am the most "coachable" player he has, because I follow what he says and take his opinion to heart. I show up anywhere with an open mind, yet am not afraid to also give my own opinion.

Looking at my profile, it is pretty clear that I am a relatively small person, but my teammates and coaches are well aware that I will do what it takes to get the ball. I have been told on numerous occasions that I am aggressive or fearless, even, when it comes to other opponents. Tackles do not scare me, and my size (or frankly others' size) do not scare me. I enjoy working out and taking some time to myself to individually improve. One of the biggest things I have going for me is my intrinsic motivation, because I do not need a coach to tell me I am out of shape or a teacher to tell me I am not doing well, because I notice it first and need to fix that problem. These sort of things are just as important in my life as they are to the team, so you can count on my to motivate myself and pull my own weight.
