Hi, my name is Mia Olenek, thank you for taking the time to review my personal profile. I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old. Along the way I also played softball for about 5 years until my heart told me I wanted Soccer to be my full-time hobby. I played recreation ball for about 5 years at Tri City Soccer. I decided I wanted a more competitive game, in which I transferred over to club level, where I started my journey at Campton United SC in St. Charles, IL. I have grown so much from joining the club level. This past year I was moved up to the club's ECNL / E64 team where I have been able to take my skills at goalkeeper and put them against some of the best girls in my age group.
Soccer is such a passion of mine and I live every day for it. I am a dedicated player that is always the first to practice and last one off the field with the coaches. I feel my hard work, dedication and ability to lead is the reason I have been the team captain for the past 3 years. As a goalkeeper I feel it is important to have the loudest voice on the field and the ability to lead on and off the field.
On top of my team training, I get in 2-3 goalie trainings a week with my Campton United goalie coach, Luis Ramirez, as well as with my private coach, Katie Montgomery, who is also the goalie for Missouri State University. I love training with Katie because we are not too far apart in age, and she is experiencing everything that I want to achieve. I only get so much training with Katie because she is away at college most of the year but when she is home working with me, I am like a sponge with her and take in everything she says or sends my way.
Outside of my own soccer duties I love working with the younger girls in the club. I love being able to go watch them play, as well as being able to work with the younger goalies and get them warmed up before their games. I truly love being their "big sister" and seeing their eyes light up when they see me watching on the sidelines. My favorite part of all is being a big sister to my little brother, Gavin, and being on the sidelines at his football games and his wrestling matches. I love being the older sibling that I did not have growing up, one that he can come to when he needs someone other than his dad to talk to about his sports with.
When not in “soccer mode” I am at home working on my studies and trying to get straight A's, for not only mom and dad but for me. I put a lot of hard work into my classes at school and at home. Currently I am an A / B student but working hard to be a straight A student. I am excited to be entering into my freshman year of high school this August and look forward to the challenges and exciting opportunities high school brings. Currently, my goal is to pursue business marketing or sports journalism in college.
