Ever since I can remember, I have been in love with sports. I grew up in a sport-loving family and always had a ball in my hands or at my feet. When I was 6 years old I started playing travel softball, recreational soccer, and travel basketball. When we moved to Slidell, I started to focus my abilities strictly on soccer and softball and joined a travel soccer team. I have been a 2-sport athlete for the last 10 years of my life, but just recently quit softball to focus on soccer. The decision was tough, but it has been rewarding. My years of softball, though, were very competitive and we won multiple state and regional championship titles. Softball taught me great discipline and how to handle extreme pressure situations, which I am now able to put solely towards soccer. Although softball taught me these things, soccer just gives me an indescribable feeling. I love the pressure and rush of having to play quickly and being able to score goals and make my teammates proud. Soccer taught me how to be a leader and become more confident and outgoing. It truly transformed my personality and helped me mature into the person I am today.
In high school, I truly ventured out with my new confidence I developed on the soccer field. I joined the student council and became very involved in all of my school's spirit events and community activities. I have also been in BETA club for the 2nd year and have recently been chosen as a NHS ambassador. I have maintained a 4.557 weighted and a 4.00 unweighted GPA. I am in all honors and one AP class as of now. My freshman year I started on the varsity softball team as well as the varsity soccer team. I received Honorable Mention District Team for both softball and soccer that year. This year, my sophomore year, I once again started on the varsity soccer team and went on to receive 1st-Team All-District for Division 1 and 1st-Team All-Parish. I additionally received my soccer teams’ “Best Varsity Newcomer” award my freshman season and “Offensive MVP’ my sophomore season.
I will always be extremely grateful for soccer and what it has given me. I have made so many lifelong friends and have truly found my purpose. The environment soccer has created for me is truly amazing and has helped me become the confident, outgoing person I am today. I can't wait to continue my soccer journey and make an impact one day in a college program.
