Hello! My name is Finley Van Til and I am a sophomore attending Falmouth High school. I started playing footy when I was 5 years old or younger, before I could remember. I had always looked up to my athletic parents who could play any sport flawlessly in our backyard, or influence me to go on runs with them before I could properly read. I first became interested in soccer in elementary school when I became obsessive over winning, my town team had a perfect record. I recognized how easily it was to develop friendships and relationship through one common value; competition.
I grew up watching USWNT and NWSL and was lucky enough to see legends like Marta, Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan, Kelly O'hara, all in person. In 2013 I began watching mens soccer, and quickly became fascinated in Arsène Wengers Arsenal. The style of play captivated me and turned me into a student of the game; I studied movement, tactics, fluidity, the players. I still watch Arteta's Arsenal today, the play still does not fail to amaze me.
Soccer has taught me how to be myself in an environment where working together is necessary in success. It has taught me how to trust myself, and others. It has taught me my priorities, how to effectively talk to teammates, how to handle an experience of stress.
In an education standpoint, I have always been interested in the sciences. I strive to major in psychology or neuroscience.
Soccer has always and will always be a significant part of my life, the people I play with are the best people I know, and my coaches have and continue to teach me lessons in and out of the sport. I desire to continue this sport I love on the collegiate level.
