My name is Madelyn Ryan but I go by "Mady". I am a student at Linganore High School and graduate in 2027. Soccer has always been a big part of my life. I have been playing soccer since I was three years old in different capacities including competitive 3v3, futsal, and travel leagues (GA and ECNL). From a very young age, my goal has been to play college soccer. College soccer players have always inspired me by their strength and dedication for the game. Equally as important to me is achieving good grades and striving to challenge myself academically. I have been in gifted programs since 3rd grade including the extremely competitive county Magnet Program. When I'm not studying or playing soccer, I'm watching soccer. My favorite team is Arsenal but I enjoy watching any Premier League game.
My primary position is Forward but I also play Attacking Center Mid (ACM). I am also very versatile, I can play just about any position on the field. For example, I was asked to play a season of Center Back and Left Back while my teammate was out on injury. Although I usually play Forward or ACM, I am willing to play the position that is needed for the team and see it as a blessing to be playing on the field. My coaches have told me that I have excellent soccer IQ and read the field well; making good unselfish and creative plays.
During my spring 2023 club season, I suffered a complete ACL tear in my left knee. This was extremely devastating for me, especially because I had been scouted by a USYNT scout and then invited to the USYNT U14 GIRLS TALENT ID EAST REGIONAL MINI-CAMP. I could not attend because of my injury, but that just fueled me to work harder to get back to play. During this downtime away from the field, I have learned so many valuable lessons, such as: work-ethic, discipline, and patience. I also learned a lot about strength training and my body. Even though this journey was the hardest thing I have ever been through, I would not change it, because it made me the player and person I am today.
