Gaia Jacobs '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Gaia Jacobs and I am a multi sports athlete with soccer being my greatest passion.

Born in Italy to a Greek mother and Dutch father, I have lived in France, Spain, and for 9 years now I am living in the US, all very strong soccer countries. It is easy to explain why I am so passionate about this sport. Truly an internationally played sport, I love the strategy, competitiveness, creativity, and most of all the team element.

My goal for college is to be able to play soccer at a school that I love. I strongly believe that I have many attributes that can benefit the team and classmates. In addition to honors classes in Business, Biology and Language, I play on my high school’s Varsity Soccer and Track & Field teams. I made both teams in Freshman year.

For both my school as well as my club team I am selected as a starter in every soccer game. I mostly play outside back with both defensive and attacking mindset on the field. I have a strong understanding of the game, love to bring the ball up the field, or fall back for a defense tackle, and take all the corner and free kicks. In Track I am focusing on improving my speed, building up my strength, and becoming a better athlete and competitor. My events include short distance sprints, jumping and relay races.

My soccer strengths are speed, fearlessness, strong kicks and the ability to read the game.

My proudest athletic achievements so far have been:

1. Soccer: Champions in the SuperCupNI (Northern Ireland, July 2022)
   I was selected to represent Surf Select in a national team competing against the national teams of Northern Ireland, The Republic of Ireland and the Glasgow Rangers.
2. Soccer: Finalist in DPL nationals in Texas, June 2022
3. Final 4, MIAA State Tournament Division 1, named MVP of the Varsity team and named captain for the 2023 season.
4. Track: All American in nationals in NYC, March 2022
   Ran the 400 m distance in the SMR event in sub 60 and our team came in 4^th
5. Track: Two times Massachusetts state champion with the Wellesley High School Varsity Track team (2021, 2022)
6. Track: Named team captain of the WHS track team (in junior year)

Competing against other schools and clubs at a high level has taught me how to stay focused under pressure, and how to become a key player in my team. Teamwork, collaboration, and communication are keys to accomplishing any goal.

My dream is to combine my passion for sports with my education. A course/degree where I can combine creativity, strategy, and a healthy dose of competitiveness. I am looking for a degree in Sports, Sports Medicine and Health, or Marketing and Business Administration. I know I have the right motivation and attributes to succeed in my studies on and off the field.
