Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Charlotte (Annie) Golinvaux. I am named after my grandmother, and to avoid confusion, everyone has always used my middle name “Annie.” I am 16 years old. I am a Junior at Benilde St Margaret’s High School. I will be graduating in 2021.
I have been playing soccer since I was six years old. Through the years, I have always played on the highest team for the Tonka United Soccer Club. Except for one. In 8th grade I was placed on the C1 team. It was a very hard year for me emotionally but it furthered my desire to play at the highest level. Looking back on this, I now believe that this experience made me a better player. That year made me realize just how much I wanted to play competitive soccer . Through hard work and extra training I earned back my spot on the Tonka United Premier 1 team. Now, I am a starter at defensive mid and play full games without subs. Currently, I play for the Tonka Fusion Elite Soccer Club. This is a new club that was formed to create an elite team. It includes top players from my current club with players from surrounding clubs. We are a top rated premier 1 team in Minnesota. This year my team won the Minnesota State Cup and the Minnesota National Premier League (NPL). We competed in nationals for each of these tournaments.
I play high school soccer during the fall at Benilde St Margaret's High School. I am on the Varsity team at BSM. I enjoy all the aspects of being part of a team and have a strong desire to succeed. I stand out because at 5 foot 11. I am very good at heading the ball, have great ball skills and good knowledge of the game.
My academics are also very important to me. Benilde - St. Margaret’s has a fantastic engineering program. I am in the first all girls engineering class and our team just became finalists to compete in an engineering event at MIT next summer. I am still deciding on my college major. I am interested in Engineering and Business. I currently have a 3.84 GPA, taking honors classes. I am a member of the National Language Honor Society.
I have always set aside time for family, friends, and other activities. I come from a very supportive family. I am the middle of 3 girls. We love going to sporting events and are avid fans. Minneapolis is a great town to watch the Vikings, Twins, Wild, Lynx and Loons! With friends, I enjoy surfing on the lake, going to concerts, ice skating and swimming. I teach Sunday School at my church, Immaculate Heart of Mary. I also have a part time job at My Gym where I teach fitness classes for children and their parents.
I would like to find a school that fits me academically and athletically. I would love to play soccer and be part of a team. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
