As we begin to prepare ourselves for the high school soccer season, I have been interested in how far soccer will take me and I am prepared to see what happens. I have been working extremely hard in the off season to improve my game and to help other teammates and I believe it will show this upcoming spring. I believe we (Norris) are going to have a very good team this year. We have many returning starters that have committed themselves to the game and have worked very hard in the off-season.
Lately, I have been giving a lot of thought to my soccer future. It seems weird to think that I am a junior now and college is only a year and a half away. I have attended many different camps to improve on my game and doing so I found it very helpful in identifying areas of my game that needed improvement. I have been diligently working on improving my technical skills. I have increased my juggling numbers and continue to work on my individual skills. I am also able to play almost anywhere on the field, but I mostly play an outside right midfielder. I am very aggressive on the field and I will work hard to get the ball at my feet and to keep it in position within our team. On the field, I have been vocal in telling people open areas and where and how I want the ball. Although I am vocal, I respect the upper classman and say my opinions in a respectable way when communicating with them. I make it necessary in my life to have good relationships with my teammates, coaches, and family. I can tell that my game has improved, relative to the last couple of years. In the last year, I have helped lead my club team to a championship in the fall season and in our indoor league this winter, along with helping my high school team to the district championship game. In my high school season as a sophomore I had five goals and five assists. I also was named an all-state honorable mention and EMC All-Conference team member. Next year I hope to improve to All-State member.
As for my academics, I have maintained a 4.0 throughout my high school career and have been on the honor roll my sophomore and freshman year. I also have taken the ACT once and have gotten a score of 26. I plan to keep taking the ACT until I meet my goal of a 30. Off the field, I like to focus on my academics first.
