Running in college has always been a huge goal of mine. Ever since my first middle school race, I knew that I wanted running to be a huge part of my life. During my high school career, I have been very successful athletically and academically. Throughout freshman and halfway through sophomore year, I have maintained a 4.0, won 7 meets as well as earning 4 state medals and being state runner up, and remaining undefeated as a girls cross country team. Being a leader is something I am very passionate about. I believe every good team needs a great leader. Since our track and cross country teams have been so successful in the past, I know what it takes to be a good leader and teammate.
In college I want to become a better runner, better person and work as hard as I can until I reach the best of my abilities. In addition, I would like to complete college with a degree in the medical field.
One of the biggest things I focus on is finishing with nothing left, knowing I gave it my all. When I get up to the line I stay loose and tell myself if anyone is going to beat me, they are going to have to have more grit and guts. The gift of running is something I feel I was born with, but hard work and striving to be great is what I think truly made me the runner I am today. In school and at practice, I love exceeding the expectations. Doing that extra rep, doing the extra sentence in the essay, even doing the extra math problem. All of these things make me feel accomplished. I get to put in the work, knowing it is going to pay off in the future.
