My name is Magaly Lopez. I found my passion for soccer at the age of nine years old. I started playing soccer for fun in the City of Henderson leagues where I learned and developed the fundamental skills of soccer. On my first practice, I remember getting the air knock out of me and thought to myself maybe this isn’t for me. My family kept encouraging me to keep going until the season was over. I enjoyed every game and practice. I loved being part of a team, learning, playing and that's when I realized soccer was for me. I played recreational soccer for 5 years I tried all positions including goalie. I finally came into my current position which is forward. I also played indoor soccer during the off season. I played middle school soccer before I got the courage to trying out for a Club Team. I started playing club during my freshmen year in high school. Currently, I play for both high school and Heat FC 05 ECNL RL II. My current position is starting forward/striker.
At the beginning of 2022, I was invited to play for Nevada ODP. This lead to receiving an invitation to Regional ODP and later to Interregional ODP. During these sessions, I have learned much more skills and techniques. I enjoyed every training opportunity I can take this allows me to grow personally. I have been challenged to take other positions, learn more skills and work with different teammates. I love being a part of a team, playing and the feeling I get when I walk into the field is so exciting that I forget about all everything else.
As a teacher's daughter, I have learned that there's nothing more important than your education. I am currently in Honors/AP classes. As part of our high school curriculum, we are required to choose a path of study. I have chosen sports medicine. I am a member of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) an organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and Health Science Education. I have volunteered with our school trainer during wrestling matches and football practices to learn more about this career. I am looking forward to attending a university or college that will allow me to study Kinesiology or Physical Therapy program as well as allow me to play soccer so I can continue growing.
