Hi! I’m Aurelia Subramanian, a 17-year old high school senior. I’m originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and moved to Henderson, Nevada when I was 14 years old.
My whole life I’ve had a competitive nature and was drawn into team sports. At nine years old, I started soccer for the first time and absolutely loved it. I started playing a lot later than most other kids, but didn’t go competitive until even later— when I was 14. Even though I’ve had less experience playing at the club level than many of my teammates or opponents, the mindset to constantly be improving drives me and motivates me to prove myself.
For me, team chemistry is one of the most important aspects of the game. Being able to trust and support those around you makes the game that much more enjoyable and rewarding. I like to be challenged by my coaches and teammates because only then can you grow and learn and be the best version of yourself.
I believe my greatest strength is my eye for the game and the way I’m able to adjust and adapt to what’s around me. I’m a very quick learner and versatile player, playing in any position or setting my coach needs from me. Recently, my coach has been playing me at left back which I believe plays to a lot of my strengths, but i've played multiple different positions within a single game and adjust my style accordingly. My high school is a stem based learning school and doesn't have a team, so I focus into putting my effort and energy into academics and my club team. I’m able to read the game very well, taking in and reading the field and opposition. I’m a vocal leader within my team, making sure everyone stays positive and focused, as well as sharing details I see from the other team or from within our own.
Aside from the field, I try to be the best student and friend possible. I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my schooling and understand the importance of education and the future I want to build for myself. I truly believe you can find a balance between education and athletics if you have the drive and put the effort in. I also try to be as good of a friend as possible, helping teammates and peers around me to the best of my abilities. Whether it’s on the field or off, soccer related or not, I’m there to help everyone around me grow and be the best versions of themselves possible.
