When I first started swimming, back in the fourth grade, I joined because one of my friends had done so. I didn’t think too much about it when I was younger. At that point, I had given my shot at what seemed to me like every other sport: baseball, soccer, basketball, etc; swimming was just another sport to check off the list. If you asked me now, 7 years later, how much swimming means to me now I would tell you it's not just a sport, it's a lifestyle.
Of course, swimming is not the only focus of my life, I love learning and I find school to be pleasant, especially so when it is rigorous. But swimming provides me an outlet that I wasn’t able to find in other sports or activities and for that reason, I couldn’t live without it. I love the thrill that racing provides. It can be difficult at times but I am up for the challenge.
Now that my senior year is fast approaching, I know that my best is yet to come. When I graduate I am hoping to go to an academically rigorous college and am ready to give my best every day as a student-athlete. I love science and plan to study medicine.
