My name is Tess Beams and I know that I am the player that you are looking for on your team. I am a strong, versatile player with excellent technical skills, strength, speed and a high soccer IQ. As a player on your team, I guarantee I will work hard both on and off the field to constantly grow and develop as a player. I am coachable and am constantly seeking and applying feedback. As a teammate, I am a great communicator, strong and encouraging leader and will consistently leave everything on the field to help my team win. I am eager to find the perfect collegiate program that offers the right mix of high-quality academics as well as a competitive, supportive, athletic program.
Since I was young, I have learned to set goals and work tirelessly until I have achieved them. Going into freshman year, I was determined to make varsity. My high school, RBC, has one of the most competitive programs in NJ, so, I knew that reaching this goal was not going to be easy! During pre-season, I seemed to be on the coaches’ radars, but was not always one of the players selected to move up to Varsity training sessions. But, I did not let this deter me. I practiced longer and harder. I sought feedback from my coach and made sure that I always stood out at practice or games. Just two short weeks into the season, I was told that my hard work, skill and leadership had paid off. The varsity coach noticed my performance and asked to move me up to Varsity. I didn’t stop there! I kept improving, working and training harder and harder so that I could now earn time in Varsity games. Again, this determination led to an incredible freshman season. When the starting outside back was injured, the Varsity coach looked to me rather than one of the upperclassmen to take the position. I ended up starting four of the next six Conference and State playoff games and got substantial minutes through the remainder of the season! My team made it to the semifinals of our Conference tournament and were runners up in the State Championship. I am most proud of this accomplishment, because it was earned through my perseverance, talent, and determination.
I have been a 3 year starter for RBC High School, one of the most competitive teams in the Shore Conference. This past season, I was named 1st Team All-Division and 3rd Team All-Monmouth County Defender. At PDA, I have been the starting left or right outside back for 4 seasons and also guest on the ECNL team when needed. As I continue through my high school and academy athletic career and move closer towards a collegiate athletic career, I will continue to set and smash my goals both as an athlete and a student so that I can make a positive impact on any program that I am a part of!
