Hi, my name is Sophia Felix. I am a 16 year old Junior at Boiling Springs High School. I participate in many different clubs and sports. In my 2021 soccer season, I started varsity as the right wing. We had a pretty good record, and made it to the semifinals on the division playoffs, yet we lost in the semifinal game. This left me with something. I kept asking myself if I didn’t work hard enough, or if I could’ve done something different. Though, I was able to turn this into making me want to be a better player instead of giving up. I work hard every practice and every game. This season of 2021 really hit hard because the team was so close and we had such a positive bond. The thought of playing in college and having a bond like that that would stick with you for 90% of your life is so amazing. I want to play in college because I know I can work hard to make myself better everyday, and not only help myself but help other people.
Off of the field, I am included in other sports and clubs. I swim for my high school swim team, and run for the track team. My favorite swimming events are the 100 free and the 200 IM. In my freshman season of track, my 4x800 team won state gold! I had a 800 time of 2:29 and I ran the 2nd leg. Being included in that relay is something I will never forget. My favorite clubs I am included in are Social Justice Club and Perfect Peers. In social justice, we communicate about current events and speak our minds on our opinions with things going on. In perfect peers, I have the chance to interact with students who have down syndrome. I really enjoy this club because I love making others feel included.
When I look for a college, my goal is to find a school that will fit me academically and athletically. I want to continue either my soccer or track career, and be able to balance both academics and sports. I would like to be able to study academics that fall under neurology, psychology, or the path to getting my pre med. I do not only have the work ethic, and desire to play at a college level, but also I know that I could make an positive impact on your program.
