My name is Emily Firestone, and I am currently a senior at Dover Area High School located in south-central Pennsylvania. Over the last three years, I have started every game for the Dover Area High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team. I have been playing soccer for ten years, and I am constantly working to improve my skills. I am a member of the FC York '94 Elite Soccer Team coached by Rich Chilcoat, and over the past four years we have competed in many out-of-state tournaments in New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. I am a versatile player as I play anywhere on midfield and defense, and I have also played some striker throughout my career. In the classroom, I am a very motivated student. I boast a 4.0 weighted GPA and I am ranked #20 in my high school graduating class, which consists of about 200 students. I have an SAT score of 1860 and an ACT score of 28. On the soccer field, I am a good passer, I am able to see the field well, I have a good first touch, and I am a competitor, always looking to win games. I am also very coachable and I learn from my mistakes well. I have always been dedicated to the game of soccer no matter what team I am on, and I am always looking to get stronger, faster, and become a better soccer player. Over the last two years, I have been going through a 5-Level Leadership Development Program that has helped me define my purpose in life and create an action plan that will allow me to play soccer in college. It has helped me to become mentally stronger and the program has taught me the characteristics of a true leader, which I have used to impact my friends and teammates on my soccer teams. Two summers ago, in 2011, I traveled to El Salvador on a mission trip. On the trip we began to build a church for one of the poorer communities in El Salvador, and the trip has really helped me to appreciate what I have. When searching for colleges, I am looking for a school that has a strong academic background that I will have a chance to play soccer at, whether it be Division I, II, or III. Geographic location matters as well, as I want to make it easy on my parents to travel to come watch me play soccer and visit me at college. My ultimate goal after graduating high school is to play college soccer, major in Biology / Pre-Medicine, and go on to medical school. Afterwards, I am hoping to join the U.S. Army as a health professions officer to serve my country and protect the U.S.A.'s citizens.
