Personal Statement

My name is Laura Damonte, and I am from Myrtle Beach, SC. I have played soccer for most of my life, and I want to continue to do so in college. I really value a good education, and I would like to be a surgeon or some kind of physician so I want to go to the college that best suits my academic needs. I have been a co-captain of the team I play on at Beach United FC for 5 years in a row now. Starting fall of 2022, I also started playing on the 06 Regional Wilmington Hammerheads team in addition to BUFC. As for high school teams, I have been playing for the Carolina Forest Varsity Women’s Soccer team since my freshman year season in 2021. Though I play for Carolina Forest, I am dual enrolled with Coastal Carolina University through Scholars Academy High School where I take various AP and college courses. In 2019 I decided to became a certified referee, and in January of 2020 I started playing for the South Carolina ODP subregional team for two seasons. I have continued refereeing as a way to stay involved in the game and make money between my own competitions. This spring(2023), I am taking 3 AP classes and 2 classes at Coastal Carolina University.
