Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Gabrielle Albertella and I am a 5'5" attacking midfielder. I attend Eastern View High School in Culpeper, VA and am in the graduating class of 2019. I have been playing soccer since I was around the age of 6. My parents have probably been my biggest influence. My father has coached me off and on over the years. While his standards and hopes were always high, he always encouraged and fosterd my love for the game over anything else.

I've played on an All Star team from the ages of U-12 to U-16. At that time I played primarily center defense. With my improved ability to see the field, I was able to move up through the center and now play the attacking mid position. This has allowed me make key passes as well and intercept passes, providing me with the opportunity to set up my teammates. In an attempt to improve my level of play I decided that I wanted to play travel after my freshmen year of high school. I made a U-17 girls team for Culpeper Soccer Club and this fall will continue with the same team as U-18.

I have been able to play on my high school's JV team since I was in middle school through my 10th grade year. Both 9th and 10th grade I was a starter. In my sophomore year I helped lead my team to both the conference and district championship games with a record of 8-0-5.

After High School, I would like to get a degree in Sports Marketing/management. This summer I have an oppurtunity to intern with a local Marketing compnay. We will be helping our soccer club gain local sponsors. I am looking for a school that will allow me to continue to compete and enjoy the sport of soccer while providing that same challenge and enjoyment in the classroom. Ideally, I would like to be an essential part of the team. I believe my best fit would be at the DII or NAIA level. Although, I would gladly consider any oppurtunity that would enable me to pursue my goals.

Thank you for taking time in showing an interest in my profile.
