- 2023 Highlights
Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Lillian Furrow but I go by Lily. I am a three-sport student-athlete at Galesburg High School (Class of 2026). I have been swimming since the age of 6. I started swimming competitively at 10 and have enjoyed it ever since. Currently, I compete with my local YMCA and high school teams.
I'm open to the size and location of schools while hoping to study psychology or sports therapy. I'm a very coachable athlete, always looking to improve to be the best I can be. I love sports competitions and would like to compete at the collegiate level to make an impact on a team. I'm a sociable person and get along with everyone. I love sportsmanship and the family feels around swimming. I have great determination and drive; exceeding expectations is the easiest thing I can do. I strive to always be better than the day before.
This past year as a freshman I was able to lead by example through hard work and completing sets even when it was difficult. By the end of the year, the upperclassmen and other swimmers have started becoming better leaders themselves. My teammates look to me for motivation and a laugh if that's what's needed. As an eighth grader, I qualified for the YMCA nationals swim meet for the first time. I qualified again for YMCA Nationals this year while balancing three varsity-level sports: swim, basketball, and track. As a freshman, I qualified for HS state in swim, I was on the regional championship basketball team, and qualified for HS state in track.
I plan on continuing to improve and excel in all three sports, but I am looking forward to seeing where a college team can take me when I just focus on swimming. As an athlete, my goal is to work my hardest while trying to pull my teammates along with me so we can grow as a team.
