Personal Statement
Ever since I swam my first 25 yards at my local club team's pool when I was 5 years old, swimming became a monumental part of my life. This sport has taught me numerous meaningful life skills such as the importance of time management, hard work, and teammate collaboration. These aspects are applied to other areas of my life, especially school. When balancing morning practices and classes, I strive to get the best grades I can by using my time efficiently and always being precise in my work, along with communicating effectively with others during group projects. Because swimming has such a large and profound impact on my life, I wish to pursue the sport going into my collegiate years. I love being in a team atmosphere, and I believe my leadership skills are helpful. In my three high school Varsity years, I received the 'Hardest Worker' award, 'Sportsmanship' award, and 'Most Improved' award, respectively. In addition, I was elected Captain of my Varsity team as a Junior and am involved in my school's Student Athletic Leadership Committee.
As a naturally dedicated individual, I never hesitate to put in all of my efforts. I have consistently improved my times each year I have been swimming in high school. By training year-round and working to build and maintain muscle mass and my skills in the pool, I have begun to prepare myself for collegiate swimming. I hope to attend a school in which I can swim in an excitable team atmosphere, while also maintaining focus on my academics.
