Personal Statement
Many things have influenced me inside and out of the pool. Both of my parents were division 1 athletes and have inspired me to play the sports I play. My mom played Field hockey and my dad did swimming. I have balanced doing swimming and field hockey year-round my whole life and have managed to keep honors in school. I have faced multiple obstacles in the past 2 years. I had hip surgery in February 2019 and ACL reconstruction in November 2019. I had to face the set backs of not swimming for 2 full seasons. I was looking forward to getting back in, but corona has put a hold on that. I have learned that hard work and dedication are really important. Things just don't happen, you need to work hard to reach your goals. I would like to keep my honors grades in high school and graduate college with the same. I would like to get a post-graduate degree in some field of study. I have learned that patience is important and working hard for what you want is important. I find myself to be a good leader and open and kind to new people. Swimming in college has always been a dream of mine since I started competitively at the age of 9 and I hope to make that dream come true.
