Dear Coaches and Recruiters,
Thank you for investing your time and consideration into my profile. I hope to express through this personal statement not only the kind of swimmer I am but also the type of person and teammate I am. I highly value and appreciate every consideration and hope one can have a better insight of me as a person.
I will start by saying that swim has been a part of my life for almost my entire life. I started swimming competitively when I was nine years old for the Red Bank YMCA and have continued my swim career with Red Bank up until this point. In addition, I have swam the past three years on my high school varsity team where both my teammates and I have excelled. As a team, we placed first at the Monmouth County meets and first (2x) and second (1x) place at the Shore Conference meets the past three years. At the Monmouth County meets I scored points for the team and placed in the top 10 in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly. At the Shore Conference meets I also scored points for my team in the same events. As I enter my final year of high school swimming I will have the honor of being elected team captain to finish out the season!
As proud I am of my accomplishments in the pool, I am extremely proud of my various academic achievements. I have been an honor roll student since freshman year and have been inducted into the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Business Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Honors. In addition, I hold leadership roles for the Spanish and Business Honor Society as well as the Future Business Leaders of America Club. I am a part of the Heroes & Cool Kids, Peer Leaders, and ASPCA club at my school too. In addition, I boast well over two hundred community service hours from volunteering at my local church, food drives, animal shelters, and with special needs children.
Whether in or out of the pool, I am very conscientious and perseverant; I always give one hundred and ten percent and strive to improve. I find that I am very receptive as well as supportive in that I am always around to help my friends/teammates and push them to be the best they can be. As far as team spirit goes, I am your girl! I love increasing the team spirit and high energy at practices and meets and being apart of a wholesome team atmosphere. Finally, I hope to excel in my swimming career, college courses, and enjoy all of my future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Isabella Destounis
