Emily Cribbs '24 Recruiting Profile

There are times in everyone's life when things just "click" and you feel a shift in your life. I had that "click" my Sophomore year of high school. I have been swimming since I was two years old but never saw it as more than a favorite pastime until last year. Last year on the pool deck of my local YMCA I found a passion for competitive swimming. As I continued to push myself to achieve my personal goals within the season, I fell in love with the sport and made it my goal to swim throughout high school and then at a collegiate level. 

I am a team player and very coachable. I want to learn as much as I can about swimming from my coaches, teammates, and mentors. I have a fierce tenacity that has served me well in life and has propelled me forward in reaching my goals. I am always open and receptive to all forms of coaching. I want to do a great job for my team, my coaches, and myself.

I have a very competitive personality and am incredibly driven not only as a swimmer but also as a student. I lead by example in the classroom, in the pool, and in my community. I am in the top 15 of my class with a 4.2 weighted GPA. My academic success is as important to me as my swimming success. I strive to be a great student and a contributing member of my community. Several years ago, my sister and I started what we call the "Bookbag Builders Initiative". This program was created to help fill bookbags with school supplies for needy children in our community. We have been able to assist over 200 children over the past three years.

I would like to attend a college in the southeast that offers opportunities to learn and grow athletically and academically. My main goal is to live a life that I can be proud of who I was, who I have become, my accomplishments, and to share what I’ve learned with others. I want to make a difference.
