Hello Coaches!
I am a Puerto Rican swimmer hoping to pursue an athletic and academic career in the United States. I started swimming competitively when I was six years old. I’ve always loved racing and I have a very competitive personality; both qualities that have helped me develop into the swimmer I am today. I made my first Puerto Rico National Team at 11 years old and remained a part of the team each year until the present (16 years old). Having the opportunity to represent my country at an international level has been a very rewarding experience. It taught me some very important life lessons, such as the importance of perseverance, patience, determination and consistency. These lessons will definitely help me prosper in my future college athletic and academic career.
As a swimmer and student, I am never fully satisfied with my performances; I always aim for better results and work as hard as I must to achieve them. My competitiveness keeps me motivated, setting myself higher or bigger goals and working towards accomplishing them. One of my goals is to attend a university at which I can nourish both my academic and athletic abilities. I plan to major in either Psychology or Architecture, I’m still not sure which one I like most. If I decide on Psychology I would love to specialize in Sport Psychology since I’ve seen first hand the importance of a healthy mindset in sports and the effect our minds have over our athletic performances.
Lastly, I would like to mention that my success in swimming to this day has been in many ways due to the unconditional support from my coaches, family and teammates. Therefore, I would love to continue growing my support group along side a great college team.
Thank you for your interest and time.
