Colleen Read '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Colleen Read. I started swimming at my local summer pool when I was 4 years old and immediately loved the sport, team spirit, and community.  I joined my club team, Machine Aquatics, when I was 8 years old because my older brothers were joining and I couldn't wait to join too.  Through swimming and other sports and activities, I learned how to be a leader when necessary and to be a supportive and considerate  team member.  Through high school and summer swim, I made friends and developed camaraderie that buoyed the team. Club swim taught me the importance of hard work, consistent effort, and persistence especially when I don't get the results I want.  Club swim also helped me develop time management skills that allow me to I challenge myself academically with honors and AP classes, other sports, Girl Scouts and band. I  know how to get my work done and get good grades, while putting forth my full effort in all my activities and getting enough sleep.
