Personal Statement
Growing up I was a competitive tennis player. I would travel across the south accumulating trophies and winning tournaments eventually becoming a nationally ranked tennis player. However, one day I was watching some of my friends compete at a regatta and admired how all of the girls were having fun while at the same time dominating a competitive sport together. Because of this, I found myself on the dock the next week learning how to row just for fun. However, over time I realized that the teamwork, perseverance, and athleticism needed to row not only ignited my passion to push my limits, but made me realize that this demanding sport was my calling. Throughout this past year as a novice, I worked fervently to continuously improve my technique on the water, PR on my erg workouts, and channel my power from the land to the water. I advanced my way into varsity boats, and by regionals, I secured myself a spot in the 3V8+ and U178+ A. As of this fall season, I will officially be on the Varsity Women's Team at St. Andrews Rowing Club. I am excited to compete, grow as a rower, prove myself to both my coaches and teammates alike, and of course, cross the finish line first!
