Quarantine wasn‘t an easy thing to go through. I didn’t have many friends due to the isolation, which caused me to be to myself mostly. I wasn’t used to that, so I was mainly sad all the time. Due to this, my mother looked into extracurriculars for me. Track was then introduced to me.
I learned how to run, how to push myself, how to hurdle, and I even made some new friends to last me a while. I’ve grown used to being consistent, doing my own work outside of practice, and using my teammates to push myself. I’ve found myself to be a very coachable athlete that will trust in the work given so I can be pushed to the top. With the conclusion of my first season of track, I’ve had this drive in me to keep going and to get even better. With every season, I end better and better, and it only makes my drive grow more and more.
Before practice, though, I excel in the classroom. I only allow myself to achieve A’s and B’s, but mostly stay on the A’s side. I’m in my third year of math (Algebra II) and plan to finish my fourth year over the summer so I have room on my schedule for more science. I want to compete at the highest level for track at a good university. I plan to go to a HBCU after college for medical school so I can become a pediatrician, pharmacist, or therapist/physiatrist. I have been taking advantage of the courses at my school so I can gain the knowledge before taking them in college, such as early childhood, bioscience, and many others I plan to take. I always plan on taking other classes outside of school to help with my hands on learning. I am very passionate about going through with this goal of mine.
