I was exposed to shot put and discuss in 6th grade, and even though I was in a number of sports, I knew this was my passion. I was selected to my high school varsity track and field throwing team as a freshman, and continue to work hard to improve my form, technique and distances. As a freshman, my personal best in shot put was recorded as the 5th best distance in school history. I am not intimidated by throwers that are older, bigger and more experienced than I am. I have a strict work ethic, a positive attitude and personality, a drive and tenacity to do my best and constantly improve, and I adapt easily to any coaching style. My goal is to attend a 4-year university and get my degree while being able to successfully contribute to my college's throwing program.
I am also looking for a college/university that meets my needs academically. I am a student athlete, and although being an athlete is very important to me, I work just as hard academically as I do with my throwing. My education is extremely important to me, because getting a good education will shape my entire future. My dream is to use my athletic throwing abilities to attend a university that will challenge me both in the classroom and in the ring.
