Sophia Comfere '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Sophia Comfere and I am going into my Junior year at Century High school. I started running the summer before my 8th grade year with no previous experience in many sports but it didn't take me long to love the competitiveness and team spirit of Cross Country. The following spring I tried out Track and had similar experiences. From my start in running, my times have continued to improve rapidly in both sports. I attribute this not only to excellent coaching support but also to my passion for the sport, determination, and discipline. Because of these traits that I have, I have been willing to put in the work and time to improve my times from being the slowest on Junior Varsity to being a top runner for our Varsity team. These traits have also served me well in other aspects of my life including my academic and extracurricular pursuits. I enjoy playing the cello in our local youth orchestra, leading a Book Club at school, and serving as a cabinet member in our high school Student Government Club. In these roles, my strengths have included time management, interpersonal and communication skills which have facilitated organization of club meetings and engagement in the consistent practice of the cello in support of my youth orchestra. I am committed to improving my times in the sport of track and ultimately securing a competitive position in college athletic programs. I also look forward to establishing solid relationships with my team and working together to achieve our shared goals. My favorite course in high school has been English as I enjoy reading and writing and often aspire to write stories of my own. I also have an interest in the biological sciences and hope to gain more experience in the subject with the upcoming classes I am taking this academic year. I am excited to engage with potential coaches and to learn more about their athletic programs through this platform!
