I have been running ever since 2020 when COVID-19 got serious and I was stuck in the house with the need to do something productive. Ever since then, I knew it was a passion that I wanted to continue throughout my life. I’ve continued to run throughout my high school years and I’m not planning on stopping. Starting cross country played a major factor in who I am now. I had never done a sport before in my life besides gym class which everyone took. I was starting two very new and different things at once, however, I wanted to push myself and make a change. I was never a consistent person, I would have a new interest every week and get bored of things easily. I wanted to change that because I can’t always run away from things. The first day of tryouts was nerve-wracking not having any friends and worrying I was going to be bad. I may not have been the best but I showed up every day no matter what because I wanted to improve and I was motivated or as my coach calls it I had “heart”. As a junior, I can confidently say I have never missed a season and have found something I look forward to at the end of every day. As my team continues to grow I continue to guide those around me because I know how they felt. Track has shown me a variety of things; how to be a leader, to be consistent, and to never give up and be discouraged because at the end of the day if I don't do well there's always tomorrow.
