Kayla Matthews '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kayla Matthews and I am a rising Junior in the class of 2025 at William G. Enloe Magnet High School. I’m a jumper, looking for a Division I college program at a school with strong academics, that will allow me to be my true authentic self. I am a  horizontal jumper.  Competing primarily as a long and triple jumper, during both indoor and outdoor season. 

I’m fully committed, and you will find I’m one of the most driven and determined athletes, I have been a member of a track and field team since I was 5 years, old, and what began as me simply wanting to be with my brother, brought out my more competitive side.  It was not until high school, that I picked up jumping and immediately, fell in love with it (despite the sand in my bag).  Prior to jumping, I also ran the 100m and 200m, but I mostly train as a jumper now.

I have made it to the NCHSAA 4A State Championships, both indoor and outdoor as a sophomore. and competed at the Adidas and New Balance Outdoor Championship as a triple jumper.  I am looking forward to what this year will bring me, both as a student and athlete.  Academically I have a 3.0/4.0 GPA taking Honors and AP classes. 

I look forward to meeting coaches, learning about the programs that may be a good match for me, and visiting the colleges to determine the next steps in my future.
