Personal Statement
I am a very goal oriented and determined runner. I am the top female runner at Scranton Preparatory School, and I have developed many leadership skills. I know how to work with people of all types of personalities. I am ready to take it to the next step for the next cross-country season and future cross-country seasons in college. I have overcome many obstacles in my running career(stress fracture during track season freshman year and I was diagnosed with anemia sophomore year of track-unable to complete any track seasons.) I have returned to cross-country better every year despite my injury and illness and they have made me the stronger runner and human being I am today. I know what it is like to be on the top and on the bottom in terms of competitions and other female runners through my two ailments. My fellow teammates are like my sisters and have shaped my personality today. We all share a common passion and work to push each other physically everyday at practice. I am expecting big things in this upcoming track season- running the mile and 2 mile. I am looking to go sub 5:30 in the mile and sub 11:40 in the two mile. I am not only rigorous in my athletic training and competition, but also through my academics. I take academics very seriously and I am just as determined academically. I am part of the 10% in my Junior class. My family supports my academics and athletics and do whatever they can to make me advance in both areas.
Thanks, Mia
