Personal Statement

My Name is Lucy Brookover, and I am currently a part of the Varsity Track team at my high school, where I am coached by Nathel Hailey. I am also apart of a club track and field team called Prominent Athletics. I am 17 years old and a  Senior at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington; Virginia and I am a proud honor roll student with a 4.1 GPA. I am also an active member of my community, I am involved in volunteering at my nearby hospital for 6-8 hours a week.  At the hospital, I read to babies in the NICU and I help around the Oncology Unit with whatever they need. I am also apart of many school run clubs that range from community service to fundraising money for girls education in low-income countries. I am very interested in knowing more about the future opportunities I could have for learning at your school and your track and field program. I believe that I could be a strong addition to your team and to your community.

Last Indoor Season (2017-18) I went to Districts (counties) and placed 4th Overall and proceeded to Regionals where I placed 10th overall. In the 300m I placed 10th overall. Last outdoor season I became county champion in the 100m and the 4x100m. I attended districts and placed 6th overall in the 100m, In the 200m I placed 4th overall and in regionals, I placed 10th overall. I also went to states for the 4x200m Relay. This outdoor season I was named 200m County Champion. I was a part of the team going to states in both 2018 and 2019, and I have been awarded the student-athlete excellence award every year. This past season I also competed in the Youth Indoor National Championships.

I train 2-2.5 hours a day 5 times a week, around 13 hours a week, with additional training on my own during the week and on the weekends. I strive to be the best I can, I have a very strong work ethic, I am a team player, I am very respectful of my coach’s hard work and time, and I am passionate about running.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
