Personal Statement
In the summer of 2016 I will be graduating from South County High School in Lorton, Virginia, where I have competed at the varsity level since my freshman year. I am currently in my third season of indoor track and will be entering my second season of outdoor track this spring. I began competing at the VHSL 6a State level since sophomore year and have also competed nationally in the 4x400m relay at New Balance Nationals Outdoor 2014 in NC.
My primary goal is to compete at the NCAA Division I level and to reach my full potential, not only as an athlete, but as a student. Academics have always been extremely important to me and I like to challenge myself with rigorous AP and honors courses. My GPA has consistently remained around a 4.3 and I plan to improve it over the course of this year.
I am also involved in extracurricular activities that allow me to contribute to my community, including the National Honor Society, Latin National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and volunteering to help children with special needs at my local elementary school over the summer.
Majors that have both interested me and tend to play to my strengths academically include applications of psychology, chemistry, and medicine.
