Mehkeiyah Edwards '18 Recruiting Profile

        My name is Meh'Keiyah Edwards and I'm 17 years old , & also a Junior at Franklin County High School (VA). I started track my sophomore year , doing Indoor Track. When I first started doing shot put & discus I had no idea what I was doing but was always determined to get the concept. Track is my resting place , I love the feeling of getting to go out and compete. I'm always determined to get better and break PR's at each meet . I've been to many meets throughout the seasons and I just managed this year (2017) to qualify for Regionals in Indoor Track placing 4th place out of 15 girls in the VHSL Group 6A Conference 3 Championship &Also qualified for Regionals in Outdoor of 2017 breaking a PR of 33'0.5 for shot put & 91'.0 for discus at the Conference 3 Championship .

     My collegiate goals in Track &Field is to simply just get better at what I do,and that is Shot Put & Discus. I feel I'd be a great candidate for a college level team because of my dedication and determination to get better as an athlete. I also believe in being a student 1st and an athlete 2nd, meaning keeping my grades up and getting all work done before dealing with sports and as a current High School athlete I feel I've stuck up to that goal.

Now as a top thrower on my team and the one with more experience I help the new girls on my team and girls on our middle school team with techniques that could help them and I also always motivate them to try their best because I believe anyone can do great things if they put their mind to it.
