Personal Statement
I have always had a huge passion for volleyball and strive to improve during and after every practice. Since my very first time on the court I knew, unlike any other sport I have ever played, that I wanted to attend a college where not only I could start my journey towards a career in medicine but play volleyball at a higher level. I play both for my high school team as well as an elite travel team during the off-season. I am and have always been a very hardworking person both on the court and off. I constantly find myself setting new goals and challenging myself with new activities striving to work on things I know still need improvement to become the best player I possibly can be. I consistently put 100% into everything that I do and encourage my teammates to do the same. No matter what is going on in my life outside of volleyball I make sure that my focus is always on the game at hand. When playing on the court I understand the importance of each player and each position as they play a key role in our teams’ success. Coaches in the past have instilled in me how important communication is when playing a team sport. Not only does communication help carry out each play but it encourages all team members to work together for a common goal. It also helps you off the court because without communication you would not be able to understand the things in the world around you. One thing my peers have told me is that even when making a mistake on the court or in the classroom they see me always striving to do better each and every time the next ball comes around or the next lesson is to be learned. I continue to learn and grow but strive to always do my best and succeed to the best of my ability at everything I do.
The sports I play and my studies have always been my main focus other than my family and friends. Having a support system is a good thing to have especially when dedicating so much of my next years to college and the game of volleyball. My mother has always supported any of my dreams no matter how big or small they are. She has taught me that through hard work I can do anything that I want as long as I keep my eye on the prize. I have a very loving relationship with my family and friends. We enjoy spending time together and I never turn down an opportunity to help them when they are in need. My family since I was a young child has always told me that my caring and compassionate heart is my best characteristic. No matter how big or small the task or favor at hand I am always willing to help them as they have always helped me. I also never turn down an opportunity for a competitive game with my family and friends. Whether it be who can clean the fastest or who can conquer the game of monopoly taking over all the properties while collecting the most money. Thanks to the love and support of my family and the love of the game I have improved my talents and skills so much since the beginning of my journey with volleyball. I am so eager to see how the next year of high school will improve my skill and knowledge of the game. But I do not want to stop there, I want to continue playing the game I love for many years to come and I am looking forward to a higher-level commitment and learning from some of the greatest players and coaches.
