My name is Angelina Alvarado, and I am currently a junior at Centennial High School in Corona, CA, and a starter libero for the junior varsity team. I have been playing club for 5 years now and High School for all 3 years. In addition to playing volleyball, I am an honor student and have a 4.2 GPA. Academics have always been a huge priority in my life. Being a full-time student-athlete while playing travel volleyball has helped me in many ways, learning time management, determination, and dedication as well as being a team player and leader. Last season I received an award for being the top teammate, and I have stood out to teammates and coaches with my energy on and off the court and learning how to help others reset from a mistake. My love for volleyball and academics has helped to prepare me for the challenges college academics and athletics might bring. Volleyball has helped me figure out myself mentally and physically because it lets me be more open and confident when doing anything. Ever since I started I have loved the competitiveness and family feeling of the sport. With volleyball being one of my main priorities in life, it has been a guide for me to focus on furthering my education and sport in college and work toward being able to compete at a high level and major in biochemistry. I believe my cousin has been a huge role model for me because of how determined and hardworking she is. I see myself in her because I have goals and aspirations that I have been focused on since I could remember and with volleyball being in my life, it has helped me build better working habits academically and athletically.
