I’m very passionate about volleyball and it would be a dream come true to able to pursue it at a higher level. I believe that I am a good fit for the Libero position because I enjoy the things that come with it, such as diving, reading the ball, and I love to hustle. I believe I am a very driven and hardworking person who is always willing to go the extra mile and give 110%. I love uplifting my teammates and cheering them on. Wether it’s after a good play or to push through a challenge. School is also very important to me. I learned at an early age how important a good education is and I strive for good grades. Law and Pharmacy is very interesting to me and I would love to major in either one.
Being able to juggle and balance life is also something that is very important to me. Being able to do good in school, play volleyball, work part time, and make time for friends and family of course isn’t easy. But anything that is worth doing isn’t easy. Family and friends mean a lot to me as they are the people that love and support me. Being flexible and able to juggle personal/school life is undoubtably an important skill. Just like being willing to play whenever or wherever a coach needs you.
Both on and off the court I value good sportsmanship and kindness. I believe that being a teammate that is able to lift others up and respect others is extremely important. Volleyball is both physically and mentally inducing. We as teammates must be able to help each other through mental slumps and be able to shake off our mistakes as players. Dwelling on mistakes during play won‘t benefit you. Knowing that and being able to let other people know that is a very valuable skill. My past coaches have told me they love my positivity and eagerness to learn. I’m willing to play wherever I’m needed and learned very early how important a smile could be during a game. Though I am quite competitive, I know it’s extremely important to be a student, level-headed, humble and ready to learn. Composure on the court is also extremely important. Being able to focus and stay calm are skills everyone needs during play. If you let yourself get rattled up it just makes more room for mistakes. However, know that everyone make mistakes and volleyball is a team sport. You can’t play alone. You need you teammates and their support just as much as they need yours. Positivity can be the difference between winning and losing.
I remember my first time trying out. I was nervous but I didn’t let that affect me. I went out there ready to hustle, play and learn. Called every ball and let everyone know that I was there. I was told by a former coach that my communication, and kindness is what drew them to me. I’ll never forget the feeling of being picked for the first time. I will forever be grateful to every single one of my coaches for believing in me, and giving me a chance to do what I love. As well as my teammates, and family/friends for lifting me up and being so supportive.
